Return to work

Food handlers suffering from particular illnesses can spread infection through food. To protect consumers, UK legislation places certain obligations on both employers and employees. 

• Staff experiencing vomiting and diarrhoea are required to report the symptoms to management immediately. 
• These staff are to be excluded from food handling areas until at least 48 hours after symptoms have stopped naturally.

The Return To Work questionnaire in our food safety management systems allows employers to demonstrate they are meeting their legal obligations, and helps ensure employees do not return to work whilst they still pose a risk to customers and other staff. It can also be used to ensure new employees and visitors to food preparation areas are fit to be in your kitchen.
